Manchester United can’t catch a break with all the critics. With so many invested in them, they keep hearing about the drawbacks of their current system. From heavy criticism to what has been lacking, Old Trafford is always held up to the standards. The newest victim to be pointed fingers at is the Manchester United Skipper.
Emmanuel Petit fires shots at Bruno Fernandes
While Ten Hag faces heavy criticism week in and week out, the former Arsenal man has also asked for some other ways to play the blame game. Emmanuel Petit has addressed a few youngsters and the skipper Bruno Fernandes in a recent interview. While talking to topoffshoresportsbooks, he said:
For me, Bruno Fernandes is a player that highlights the problems at Manchester United. “Most of the time, I don’t like the way he behaves on the pitch. He acts like a diva.
“He doesn’t help or encourage his teammates when the chips are down. “When Manchester United are suffering, he’s always crying; always showing his disappointment.
“That is not what you expect from your captain. You’re expecting more encouragement and leadership. Someone who brings positivity.
He also expressed his faith in the United youngsters as he stated:
“United’s best players have been the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.’
Bruno Fernandes might be facing harsh statements in this sequence. But being a skipper at Old Trafford, that must be something he is accustomed to by now. The Portuguese who joined the Red Devils in 2020 currently earns £300,000 per week. Fernandes has made 237 appearances having 146 goal contributions for Manchester United. While he has been the difference maker at times, his leadership quality could be taken for questioning.
We could bring a lot of people on the deck when it comes to leadership quality at Old Trafford. While their new signings aren’t showing up, they’ve had no luck with the injuries either. Petit does discuss the youngsters with potential, but what United might need, is a leader who can guide them from the front.
