Manchester United provided an injury update on their new signing Leny Yoro after the successful surgery on his injured foot.
According to Manchester United, Leny Yoro suffered a foot injury in the pre-season friendly game against Arsenal that required surgery. The Red Devils suffered numerous injuries during the pre-season which caused fans to compare the situation with their last season.
United faced perennial issues with injury crisis alongside poor individual performances as their season imploded with eliminations from top competitions. However, Erik ten Hag’s team won the FA Cup by beating Manchester City to provide a glimpse of much-needed hope.
The Red Devils are operating under a new regime after Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought a significant portion of United’s stakes. The new era started with the signing of Yoro from LOSC Lille by beating Real Madrid in a high-profile deal.
According to the Athletic, United signed Yoro for £52 million plus add-ons as other clubs refused to match the valuation. While clubs like Real and Liverpool argued the valuation and wages were too high to match, United needed a statement signing.
Despite the lack of senior-level experience and young age, Yoro has immensely high potential that few his age can match. The 18-year-old is a ball-playing central defender with the physical build and maturity to become a regular starter immediately.
However, the Frenchman sustained a foot injury in the pre-season friendly against Arsenal which ruined the start of United’s career. United’s official statement estimates that Yoro will return to fitness in around three months after his successful surgery.

The Red Devils planned multiple signings in the defence department irrespective of this unfortunate and untimely injury to Yoro. United cannot afford to make the same mistakes they made last season, particularly when other competitive rivals have improved their squad.

At the same time, Yoro has to wait to make his Premier League debut for the Red Devils alongside fans. The Frenchman would hope that United are in a comfortable position when he returns, easing the inevitable pressure that comes with representing the Old Trafford crowd.
