PSG complete initial talks to sign Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho in the summer
Paris Saint-Germain is advancing towards a deal for Manchester United ace Jadon Sancho this summer. The English forward has been included in United’s pre-season squad by manager Erik ten Hag. The French giants have completed initial talks with the player’s representatives, per Caught Offside.
After missing the fourth penalty in the shootout for the England national team in the Euro 2020 final against Italy at Wembley, Jadon Sancho went through a difficult phase. He, along with his national teammates Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka, was criticized for missing penalties in the final for the Three Lions. Three days later, the Red Devils signed the English winger from German club Borussia Dortmund. It was one of the most exciting deals for United that summer.
However, the winger failed to continue his form in England, struggling to make an impact under then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Sancho saw more playing time under Erik ten Hag, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in 38 games across all competitions in the 2022–23 season.
The 24-year-old had a dispute with Ten Hag last season and was expelled from the squad by the Dutch manager. He only played six games for the Red Devils last season. Despite multiple compromise talks, the player was sent back to Dortmund on a loan deal for the second part of the campaign.
Sancho thrived at his former club with his impressive performances, helping the German side reach the Champions League final, scoring three goals and providing three assists during his six-month loan spell. Despite working his way back into Erik ten Hag’s United squad for pre-season, the
player’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain.
