Erik ten Hag hints that Manchester United will have more additions in the summer
According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has hinted that the club will sign more central defenders in the summer transfer window. The club has already signed young French defender Leny Yoro from Lille, beating Real Madrid to his signature. Ten Hag has targeted multiple players in the summer transfer market.
It is a crucial season for the Dutch manager, as he failed to secure a top-four position last season. He has begun preparations for his third season with the Red Devils and wants to make significant changes to the squad ahead of the new campaign.
The club’s primary task will be bolstering the defensive line before the upcoming campaign. United have lost two defenders, Raphael Varane and Willy Kambwala, this summer. Additionally, experienced defenders Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could potentially leave the club.
Erik ten Hag has already started to reinforce the backline by signing French starlet Yoro from Lille. The youngster impressed the football world with his performances for the French club last season. The Dutch manager hinted that the club may sign more defenders this transfer window. Ten Hag responded to the media when asked about defensive signings (h/t Manchester Evening News).
“I think we are occupied [in that position] but we work continually. The good thing is we already signed two players, but it belongs to a club like Manchester United that you are still looking – if the opportunity is there – for better and we still have time, until August 30.”
