Man United believe they have pulled off a "real bargain" with £52m signing

Leny Yoro is the latest arrival at Manchester United

Manchester United completed the acquisition of Leny Yoro from French side Lille as the Red Devils get a much-needed defensive boost going into next season.

There was a dire need for defensive recruitment at Old Trafford owing to problems that the club faced in the position last year, complemented by the eventual exit of Jonny Evans and Raphaël Varane. The club could have gone two ways to replace their place in the dressing room at Carrington: one by signing an experienced player with a high fee who is bound to decline in a couple of years, and another by buying one of the young players who can dominate the Premier League for the next decade.

It is fair to say that the officials at Old Trafford went for the latter.

United secured Yoro’s signatures after competing for his signatures with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

The 18-year-old centre-back spoke about the honour of representing a club with a statue of United, and it is fair to say that the internal conversations with the player, his family, and his representatives were all positive.

United land French starlet

Speaking in an interview with the Red Devils official website, United’s latest arrival said:

“Since my first conversations with the club, they have set out a clear plan for how I can develop as part of this exciting project, showing a lot of care for me and my family. It’s an incredible honour to sign for a club of Manchester United’s stature.”
