Anthony Martial’s agent slams media, says reports about his client being greedy “not true”
Anthony Martial was recently defended in public by his agent, Philippe Lamboley, after reports emerged calling the France international “financially greedy”, as put by the Manchester Evening News.
The 28-year-old is set to leave Man United at the end of this month, bringing down curtains to a nine-year stint at Old Trafford.
Yet to find himself a new club, Martial was being called “financially greedy” by some tabloids in reference to the £250k-a-week salary he is leaving behind at United, which is speculated to be the reason he is yet to find a new club.
In response, Lamboley had this to say in defence of his client:
“Anthony is on vacation. We are studying the different projects that have been offered to him. We are going to take time to consider the next steps. He’s going to take time to be fit and ready for his new club and he’s been training normally for two months. He’s 28 and I’ve heard reports he will be too financially greedy with clubs. This is not true. Anthony wants an ambitious project to achieve high club goals and get back into the France team. He will choose his club according to the sporting and family project. The finances are important for any professional player but they are not his priority.”
Lamboley speaking to Sky Sports News, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News
Martial has been linked with the likes of Galatasaray and Inter Milan since confirming his Man United exit.
Don’t sleep on Anthony Martial
The money United spent on Anthony Martial in terms of transfer fee and salary understandably gives Martial’s time at United an underwhelming aftertaste.
Make no mistake, however: the Frenchman is still an exquisite talent who undeniably got lost in the turmoil of United over the last decade, suffering through not only injuries but managerial turnovers.
How many players, after all, would call their time at United in the last decade the zenith of their career?

Regardless of where he ends up, Martial will have to reduce his wages significantly, yes, but if he ends up at a stable club in an environment feasible for him, don’t rule out a late-career remontada from the 28-year-old.
