Arsenal urged to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United
Marcus Rashford was one of the most underperforming players for Manchester United in the recently concluded season as they ended the Premier League in 8th position, their worst-ever finish in the top flight.
The 26-year-old scored only eight goals and assisted five times in all competitions across 43 appearances and a poor return in the final third also cost Rashford a place in Gareth Southgate’s England team for Euro 2024.
Bacary Sagna, formerly an Arsenal player has urged Rashford to join the Gunners in a bid to rekindle his career and went on to add that the north Londoners can ‘destroy oppositions’ by adding the forward to their roster.
Sagna, who spoke to CoinPoker, was cited by Mirror saying the following:
“I think if you added Rashford to Arsenal’s attack, with the pace that he has, Arsenal would destroy the opposition. Adding Rashford to an extremely talented squad would be a frightening prospect for Arsenal’s rivals. I would love to see Marcus Rashford at Arsenal. Rashford is so quick. I think having Rashford would enable Arsenal to have more variety in attack and I would love to see Gabriel Jesus and Marcus Rashford in the same team, pressing with so much intensity.”
While a lot of younger players, most recently Kai Havertz, have turned their career around at Arsenal, thanks to Mikel Arteta’s dynamic system, it is far-fledged to think that Rashford would join them.
The Gunners have been historic rivals with the Red Devils and though the latter haven’t contended for the Premier League in recent years, they would not want to help Arsenal’s cause of winning the league.
Additionally, it is difficult to picture Rashford fitting into a star-studded Arsenal starting eleven which boasts Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on the left wing.
Gabriel Jesus has been rough fitness patch and Arsenal could add a natural striker this summer, which would signify that Rashford would not even fit into his secondary choice of position.
Should Manchester United receive an offer for Rashford, they should consider cashing in on him after a substandard campaign. He is also one of their highest-paid players and has not justified the salary.
