"We see that talk"- Wolves star addresses Manchester United transfer interest

Manchester United have their sights set on Matheus Cunha.

Manchester United kept close tabs on Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha throughout last season. He’s reportedly a top target for the club as they seek to fill the void left by Anthony Martial’s departure. With only Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund as established strikers, signing a new attacker is a major priority for manager Erik ten Hag this summer.

Despite Matheus Cunha only spending one season at Wolverhampton Wanderers, the 25-year-old has impressed enough to catch the eye of Manchester United. The Red Devils are now considering him as a potential recruit.

Cunha Shines, Aligns with United’s New Vision

After a successful loan stint that secured Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Premier League status, Matheus Cunha thrived in his first full season with the club. The Brazilian forward notched an impressive 14 goals (12 in the league) and 8 assists, highlighting his attacking prowess. His absence towards the season’s end significantly impacted Wolves’ performance. Cunha’s aggressive, dynamic, and ambitious playing style reportedly makes him a perfect fit for the kind of players Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to bring in as he steers Manchester United towards a renewed future.

Cunha addresses United transfer rumours

Despite rumours swirling about a possible transfer to Manchester United this summer, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Cunha has downplayed the speculation. The reports emerged as United seeks to bolster their attack in the upcoming transfer window. Cunha told Globo Esporte:

Then we see that talk (United). But I’m very happy at Wolves. My focus is on resting and making the most of my time with my family. I’m very happy at Wolves. The focus now is on having better seasons and helping the club.”

His statement makes it clear that the Brazilian forward is not looking for a move away from Wolves at least during this summer transfer window. The player seems to be focused on improving his performance and helping the team perform even better in the upcoming 2024/25 Premier League season.
