Manchester United gain transfer boost as summer target gets axed from the England team

Erik ten Hag says he is not responsible for Manchester United’s transfer expenditure of £400m+

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has denied all responsibility for the £400m+ that the club have spent on transfers during his time at the helm.

Over the last two years, we’ve seen the Red Devils sign players like Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir, Antony, and Raphael Varane. The Dutchman has added quite a few names to the team’s lineup.

However, when asked about the transfer bill, Ten Hag says that all the decisions were made by John Murtough and former CEO Richard Arnold. Let’s have a look at what else Ten Hag had to say. (h/t Manchester Evening News)

“The prices paid for players are indeed very high – but I am not responsible for that. The club did all the negotiations, including with very good potential players who didn’t come in the end.”

Ten Hag added that despite all the problems the team has faced over the past two years, the foundation of the club has grown stronger during his time at Old Trafford. To be fair, the Red Devils have won trophies with the Dutchman.

They have also been to three finals and will be back in Europe next season. Ten Hag knows that his squad has potential he just needs to make the right signings this time around to achieve all that the people think Man United can.

Ten Hag and his team can go far with a few tweaks this summer.

This summer, the Red Devils should focus on making improvements to their defensive line and their attacking line. A good defensive midfielder would also be nice to pair alongside young Kobbie Mainoo.
