Patrice Evra reminisces about 2008 UCL win, suggests Man United “build from the past”
Patrice Evra has recently put on Instagram images of him celebrating with the Champions League trophy back when Man United lifted it in 2008.
The images coincide with the recent release of the documentary chronicling Man United’s treble-winning 1998/99 season, which is available on Prime Video, whose official account also left a comment on Evra’s post, which Evra responded to.
In the caption of his post, Evra has ostensibly left a message for Man United as they look to build back better under a new sporting ownership next season.
The former France international spent eight years at Old Trafford, arriving in 2006 from Monaco and leaving in 2014 for Juventus.
Before United go about rebuilding next season, they have an FA Cup final against Man City to look forward to in hopes of ending an otherwise underwhelming season with silverware.
Before you start solving a problem, you need to acknowledge one exists in the first place
In observed practice, people both inside and outside Man United in recent years are of the opinion that the club have simply taken a misstep to fall off their top perch and will return there any day now.
This is simply not true. Deep-rooted institutionalised issues rotting the organisation from top to bottom have comprehensively sent United into mid-table mediocrity—they are no longer a big side, just a big-name midtable team with a storied past.

One can ignore this hard-to-swallow pill, or admit the truth, which is the first step when trying to go about solving a problem. One can only hope United’s INEOS overlords have internalised this truth as they go about taking the club back to the top.
