Antony ready for FA Cup final, sends out message on Instagram
Antony put on Instagram yesterday a story looking forward to the FA Cup final this Saturday, in which he seemingly had a message for his opponents.
Antony had the words “We are United!!” written into his Instagram story with the official FA Cup account tagged underneath it, as a message for Man City, whom Man United are due to play at Wembley.
The Brazil international will be keen to match his words with some actions on the pitch, so far having comprehensively failed to justify the €95 million United shelled out for him two seasons ago.
Man United come into the FA Cup final with some semblance of ability to win games, having won their final Premier League game of the season 2-0 against Brighton.
City, on the other hand, secured a fourth league title in a row on Sunday and will be keen once again beat United at Wembley, just like they did in this same fixture last year.
United winning the FA Cup would be quite the underdog story
Invoking “David vs Goliath” as a metaphor can be quite yawn-inducing these days, but there is not a more apt comparison to draw between Man United and Man City.
Make no mistake, United managing to cause the Cityzens any level of distrust on Saturday will be achievement enough.
As for Antony, this is not the first time he has tried performative arts only to fail to deliver on the pitch. The 24-year-old was much maligned for his cupping-ears celebration after United’s FA Cup semi-final win over Coventry City. He was also meme-fied for having a stern look on his face when coming on against Arsenal recently only to offer virtually nothing.
