Bayern Munich emerging as contenders for Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes’ signature this summer
As per The Independent, Bayern Munich are exploring the possibility of landing Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes this summer.
The Portugal international and Man United skipper has reportedly become frustrated with proceedings at Old Trafford. Now 29, he is looking to take the next step to get the best out of his prime years.
The Bavarian giants, having lost the Bundesliga title for the first time in 11 years, are looking to strengthen ahead of next season to overtake Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen and could make Fernandes their marquee summer signing.
Man United, on the other hand, are not only looking for a clean-slate rebuild, they also need to generate funds to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules and may have to let Fernandes go reluctantly.
Fernandes is also subject to interest from the Saudi Pro League, who would back themselves to beat the offers Fernandes received from European sides.
For the right price, no deal is off the table
As good as he has been for United, Bruno Fernandes is not a player whose value will appreciate much going forward given his age.
Additionally, Bayern have demonstrated last season with Harry Kane that they are willing to spend three-figure sums for players in their prime that they deem would improve them.
And Fernandes is indeed a player who would improve the current Bayern side, with whom Thomas Tuchel is looking ever likelier to continue as they fail to find a replacement.

Be it Bayern, Inter, or the Saudi league, if an offer in excess of £80 million arrives at United’s door, they should at least consider it. Letting Fernandes go would be a hard call to make, but not one United should unequivocally shy away from.
