Sofyan Amrabat was quick to thank the Manchester United fans after his side’s defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Morocco international, on loan from Fiorentina, took to Instagram to thank the fans.

The 27-year-old has had a trying time at Old Trafford, and his performances in general over the season make it unlikely for United to consider buying him permanently ahead of next season.

Man United have two more Premier League games left in the season—Newcastle (H), Brighton (A)—before they face Man City in the FA Cup final later this month.

Very few players have looked good this season for United—if they’ve been on the pitch at all, that is.

Even before his performances at the 2022 World Cup, Amrabat was being scouted by big European teams on the back of his performances for Fiorentina.

The Old Trafford stint, however, just came at a bad time for the Moroccan, not that there is ever a good time to come to United these days. The ensuing confidence crisis have affected many a player, and few have suffered as badly as Amrabat.

The 27-year-old will very likely return to Italy in the summer, to either play a season or two there to resuscitate his reputation or leave immediately for a significantly reduced fee.

It is likely that, if he moves to a different club, Amrabat would become part of a more stable project.
