Manchester United player ratings vs Arsenal

Manchester United dropped yet another poor performance as Arsenal left Old Trafford with a win. While Mikel Arteta and his men rose to the top of the Premier League table with this, Erik ten Hag and his side are now stuck in eighth place and need three points to crack the top six.

With the season in its closing moments Man United’s dreams of claiming a top-six spot are all but over now. It’ll take a miracle for Erik ten Hag and his team to pull off a comeback at such a crucial stage of the season.

While Arsenal didn’t exactly dominate the Red Devils, Arteta’s men did extremely well to keep the pressure on them and held onto their one-point lead all the way to the final whistle. Let’s have a look at the player ratings for the game.

Here are WAFU’s ratings of Manchester United players in the game against Arsenal

Andre Onana: 7

There wasn’t much that Andre Onana could’ve done to stop Trossard’s goal tonight. Moreover, the Cameroonian goalkeeper more than stood up to the challenge every time the Arsenal forwards challenged him. Andre Onana might’ve conceded but he can’t be blamed for United’s loss tonight.

Diogo Dalot: 7

Diogo Dalot was one of the rare positives for Manchester United tonight. He was constantly looking to press the issue and kept moving the ball into the final third. Apart from being a threat on attack Dalot also did a stellar job on defence winning eight of 11 duels.

Jonny Evans: 4

If Evans had shown a little urgency while defending Kai Havertz, the Red Devils might’ve been able to get away with a draw, however, he simply walked beside Havertz as he dribbled into the box and delivered the ball to Trossard for Arsenal’s only goal. A poor game for the veteran

Casemiro: 6

Lacked energy throughout the game but did compensate for his poor performance against Crystal Palace. Casemiro looked like a true defender tonight and it’s thanks to his stellar job in the back that United only lost by one goal.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 6

Excellent defending during the opening minutes of the game. However, his performance dipped during the second half and he was taken off in the 84th minute.

Kobbie Mainoo: 6

Kobbie Mainoo did what he always does and kept things simple while doing a good job on defence. He was struggling to keep control over the midfield which is understandable given his age.

Sofyan Ambrabat: 7

For once Sofyan Amrabat didn’t drop an absolute stinker while wearing the Man United shirt. He was a constant threat on offence and constantly kept pushing the issue with progressive balls into the final third. A few flashes of quality from the Morrocan during his last days at the club.

Alejandro Garnacho: 7

Alejandro Garnacho was reigning terror down the left flank. However, for all his dribbles and crosses he had nothing to show for it in the end. He kept trying to create for United but lacked that final pass that could change things up.

Scott McTominay: 4

Had a poor game. McTominay looked lost playing as an attacking midfielder, his performance today would actually make people appreciate Bruno Fernandes a little more. The Scott had absolutely no affect on offence or the game as a whole tonight.

Amad Diallo: 5

Diallo played a game similar to the man he was replacing, Marcus Rashford. he kept moving the ball up the pitch and kept penetrating Arsenal’s box. However, like his peers in the forward line, even Amad lacked that final touch tonight.

Rasmus Hojlund: 3

Another goalless night for the Manchester United striker. For all his talent Rasmus Hojlund does nothing but run around for 90 minutes when he’s not getting solid deliveries in the box.
