Sir Jim Ratcliffe plans to overhaul Manchester United by initiating the sale of twelve senior players, including forward Marcus Rashford
Manchester United could experience a major shake-up as Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants to sell twelve senior players including Marcus Rashford. The other notable players are Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Antony and Jadon Sancho.
Sofyan Amrabat will return to his parent club Fiorentina while Anthony Martial is leaving as a free agent in the summer. Furthermore, out-of-favour midfielder Donny Van de Beek would depart the club permanently, currently on loan at Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt.
Rashford earned a major contract before the beginning of the current season after his prolific performance during the last season. Many fans and pundits believed last season to be the end of his struggle with inconsistencies, fulfilling his massive potential.
However, the 26-year-old suffered from similar issues this season and faced severe criticism involving his conviction and motivation to perform. Football pundits and fans have incessantly discussed Rashford‘s unsatisfactory work ethic and his tendency to shoot rather than find his teammates.
The England international has made 40 appearances in all competitions, contributing with eight goals and five assists this season. The whole attacking department struggled to score goals consistently, playing a big role in the club’s horrible season.
Man United are currently seventh in the Premier League table and far from reaching their minimum goal of top four. Numerous players who are earning major wages at the club have failed to live up to the expectation this season.
Fichajes reported that Ratcliffe plans an overhaul during the summer, cleaning out twelve under-performing players on big wages. However, the list also includes Maguire who played a crucial role in stabilizing the leaking defence this season.
