Dwight Yorke urges Manchester United to pursue Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze
As quoted by Manchester Evening News, Dwight Yorke told TVSportGuide in a recent interview that he wished Man United would pursue the Crystal Palace duo of Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze in the summer.
The two Palace stars have been impressive in their own ways ever since making the jump from the Championship, having been attracting interest from Premier League heavyweights for some time now.
“United should go buy two Crystal Palace players right now, Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, without a doubt. Those two young boys are the players United need at the club right now. They’re young, great talents and would improve the club. In two or three years time, they would be coming into the best part of their careers and they’d be integrated into the United side by then. Olise and Eze are proper players, they have some of the best potential I’ve ever seen. These two kids improve United’s attack, without a shadow of a doubt. The deals should be done already, try chucking £80 million or something like that for both of them.”
Yorke to TVSportGuide
Both Olise (14 appearances, 7 goals, 4 assists) and Eze (23 appearances, 8 goals, 3 assists) have shone this season despite a middling season for the Eagles, who had to make the hard call to dismiss Roy Hodgson midway through the season but have since all but guaranteed their Premier League status for another year with Oliver Glasner at the helm. Both Olise and Eze are two of Palace’s highest earners with contracts running until June 2027. The club wouldn’t want to lose them both at the same time but are likely to find resistance futile in the summer amid interest from the likes of Man United, Man City, Arsenal, and Chelsea.
Asking players with upward mobility to move to Old Trafford not an easy task
There was a time in English football when an offer from Old Trafford would mean the zenith of a player’s career. These, sadly, are no longer those days.
In the last 11 years, United have provided ample examples to both players and coaches at the top level to firmly establish that working for them is no longer an attractive prospect. Big, promising talents have arrived at the club in recent years only to drift away into the aether of nothingness, with very few getting a chance to review their career elsewhere.
Eze and Olise are players on an upward trajectory. They are likely to get offers from better-placed sides than United in the summer, so regardless of what the club may be able to offer them, both of the Palace stars would be wise to not drink from the poisoned United chalice.

United, on the other hand, are going to find high-profile players very reluctant to come to Old Trafford unless they’re offered silly money. The new sporting owners have in front of them the unenviable task of making United football-savvy in the eyes of the beholders once again.
