Jose Mourinho takes a direct swipe at ‘unprofessional’ players from Manchester United
Jose Mourinho‘s time at Manchester United was not as fruitful as he would’ve wanted it to be. The Portuguese manager won three trophies during his first season at the club. However, everything that followed was full of disappointment.
After a disappointing end to the 17/18 campaign, Mourinho stayed on for the next season. However, he didn’t even get to reach the halfway mark of the 2018/19 season and was sacked on December 18th, 2018.
It has now been a few years since his departure and Mourinho still talks about his time at Manchester United. He says there are still players at the club that he wanted during his time there, let’s have a look at what else he had to say. (h/t The Telegraph)
“There are still a couple of players still there I didn’t want five or six years ago. I think they represent a little bit what I consider not the best professional profile to a club of a certain dimension.”
“But I did my job there. Time always tells the truth. I would love Manchester United to succeed.”
Since Mourinho left Man United, the Portuguese manager has only won one trophy so time surely hasn’t been kind to him. The Red Devils on the other hand have not fared too well either.
And the fact still remains that Man United still fostered players whom Mourinho wanted gone during his time as the manager. We have also seen a few of the United players being ‘unprofessional’ this season.
There was Marcus Rashford who didn’t show up for training following a drinking binge. More recently, Alejandro Garnacho liked a post on X which was criticising Erik ten Hag.
