Theo Walcott backs Manchester United star Marcus Rashford to make the England squad for the Euros
Theo Walcott fully backs Manchester United star, Marcus Rashford to make the England team for the EUROS. The Manchester-born star has struggled to find his form this season. He has made 39 appearances scoring just eight goals.
While Rashford’s numbers have dropped others have picked up. Phil Foden and Cole Palmer are two names that have constantly popped up when it comes to the question of England’s wingers for the EUROs.
Both players have been stellar for their clubs this season and a lot of people are backing them for the England team. However, Theo Walcott says Marcus Rashford should be the one getting the nod. Let’s have a look. (h/t talkSPORT)
“I think people forget what Rashford’s done in an England shirt, and for Man United,”
“He has had some fantastic moments. On the big stage, that’s when your best players, you need to trust them and I think he’s someone who should be in the England team.”
Walcott added that he would pick Rashford if he was the one making the choices. While it is true that Rashford has had some fantastic moments this season, his form still leaves a lot to be desired.
It’s not even about how good of a footballer he is. The question most people find themselves asking is whether Marcus Rashford even enjoys football anymore. The way he jogs for United suggests otherwise.
Moreover, while the 26-year-old has had 60 caps for England he hasn’t scored a lot of important goals for them. His three most recent ones and probably the most important came in Qatar during the World Cup.
