Manchester United star gets slammed by club legend, Wayne Rooney following Liverpool draw
Manchester United were almost able to steal all three points away from Liverpool. However, a lapse of judgement by Aaron Wan-Bissaka led to a penalty for the Reds during the closing minutes of the game.
Mo Salah converted the penalty into a goal and made it 2-2 for Jurgen Klopp and his team. Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney was not happy about Wan-Bissaka’s slip-up. Here’s what the former Red Devil had to say about it. (h/t Manchester Evening News)
“If he stays on his feet you don’t get to this situation. But it’s very poor from Wan-Bissaka. It’s sloppy. When you go to ground like that, you run the risk of giving a penalty away.”
He also indicated that Bruno Fernandes made it way too easy for Joe Gomez to get past him. If the Portuguese skipper wasn’t fully gassed by the end, he could’ve caught up with the Liverpool defender.
Wan-Bissaka will be beating himself up over the fact that he gave away a penalty in such a crucial game. The sad part is that the English defender was having an amazing game prior to that mistake.
He assisted on the terrific goal that was scored by Kobbie Mainoo and also created two chances for his team. He was a positive sight throughout the night and looked like Manchester United’s best defender for large stretches of the game.
It was an unfortunate incident for the 26-year-old. He will surely be looking to build upon it in the future but these mistakes go beyond him.
