Arsenal legend Ian Wright sees Liverpool winning the Premier League game against Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United side this Sunday. While the Merseysiders have failed to beat United at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag, Wright sees things changing this weekend as the Red Devils hope to bounce back from their defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are coming off a 3-1 victory against Sheffield United at Anfield and lead the Premier League by two points with Arsenal and Manchester City creeping in on them. The last game between the sides ended with United managing a late win in the FA Cup.

However, United, in their two games since then, have failed to secure a win. A 1-1 draw against Brentford followed by the unfortunate loss to Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the capital.

Wright does not see the home side winning against the Merseysiders as he feels OT is not a fortress anymore. Here is what he had to say on the Ringer FC podcast:

“I fear for Man United.”

“I just feel like Liverpool will be much more focused than they were in that FA Cup game and be even more ruthless.”

“We know United can be ruthless and [Alejandro] Garnacho alone is going to be a threat. But Liverpool will want to go there and put them in their place,”

“I worry for United because I can see another big hiding, I could see them getting a good hiding to be honest.”

United might win as the underdogs!

The Red Devils’ struggles to maintain momentum and capitalize on scoring opportunities have raised questions about their ability to compete at the highest level, adding an element of uncertainty to their prospects against Liverpool.

While acknowledging United’s potential for ruthlessness, particularly with players like Alejandro Garnacho posing a threat in the attacking third, Wright emphasises Liverpool’s superior focus and ruthlessness as key factors tipping the scales in their favour. Drawing on Klopp’s track record of instilling a winning mentality and fostering a cohesive team ethos, Wright suggests that Liverpool will approach the match with a steely determination to assert their dominance and secure a crucial victory on enemy territory.

With both teams vying for crucial points towards the end of the season, Sunday’s showdown promises to be a captivating spectacle and also, it will be hugely detrimental to Erik ten Hag’s future at the club.

Hopefully, we can repeat our antics in the FA Cup clash between the sides a couple of weeks ago and we can put Ian Wright in his place.
