Manchester United are eyeing a move for Max Kilman

According to The Times, Manchester United are looking to bring Max Kilman to Old Trafford this summer.

The Wolves captain has started every single Premier League game this season and is regarded highly by clubs across Europe.

Wolves rejected a £30m bid for the 26-year-old centre-back from Serie A side Napoli last season. With his contract running until the end of the 2027/28 season, it’s unlikely the price will come down, though the club do need to comply with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules, which might limit their ability to play hard-ball for long.

Kilman has had a meteoric rise ever since arriving at Molineux Stadium some six years ago from non-League side Maidenhead United. Now Wolves’ captain, he is an indispensable part of Gary O’Neil’s setup and one of the most highly-rated centre-backs in the Premier League outside the top six.

Kilman would make a good fit at Old Trafford

Given the injury woes suffered by Lisandro Martínez this season, and the injury-ridden career Luke Shaw has had in general, it is easy to understand why Erik ten Hag might be keen to get another left-footed centre-back who is good on the ball and has demonstrated adequate leadership skills.

United need discipline in their defence, and more importantly, they need availability from their players. Kilman would offer them both.
