Nice defender has caught the eyes of Manchester United

As reported by Standard, Manchester United are now interested in signing Nice defender, Melvin Bard. The 23-year-old is said to be in contact with the club. The Red Devils have decided to pursue Bard after taking their injury struggles into account.

The Old Trafford squad really can’t count on any of their defenders to be available for the length of an entire season. Victor Lindelof is back on the injury list and joins Lisandro Martinez who is also there for the second time this season.

Luke Shaw is out and will return towards the end of the season. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has just come back, and at the moment it looks like Tyrell Malacia is not even a part of the Manchester United squad.

Erik ten Hag has so many bodies for his defence. However, none of them have been available for extended amounts of time. The Dutchman’s most consistent defender this season has been Raphael Varane.

However, the Frenchman is expected to leave the club on a free transfer this summer. Melvin Bard would be an excellent pickup. The 23-year-old has been a positive sight for INEOS-owned Nice.

A lot of people also expect the Frenchman to be called up to the national team for the 2024 Euros. Eri ten Hag will surely be happy to have a player of his quality on the team.

Since Nice is also owned by Manchester United part owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group, luring Bard over to Old Trafford shouldn’t be a tough task.
