Manchester United’s poor offensive performance against Brentford is highlighted as new stats come to light
Manchester United were abysmal on all fronts as they took on Brentford. However, thanks to their luck they were able to get away with one point after the game ended in a 1-1 draw. The Red Devils have had plenty of luck this season.
A new stat by Squawka shows that Manchester United only took 16 touches in the opposition box. On the other hand, the Bees’ Ivan Toney had 15 by his lonesome. It is clear to see that Erik ten Hag’s team fails to create chances.
Often we see Manchester United moving around the ball mindlessly and fail to create anything from open play. It’s like the team hangs their hopes on counter-attacking opportunities to win games.
Last night’s game exposed the team at every level. Something needs to change for Manchester United to be successful. Erik ten Hag’s forwards are wasteful with their chances. Alejandro Garnacho can’t help himself and keeps dribbling and giving possession away.
Their most consistent forward Rasmus Hojlund has just recently returned from injury and seems to be out of it. Their chief playmaker Bruno Fernandes doesn’t actually create a lot. The team needs someone to be their hero in almost every other game.
Erik ten Hag isn’t playing winning football and needs to head back to the drawing board. The team also needs more quality in the lineup if they want any chance of competing with the likes of Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal.
