West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus singled out Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw as his toughest opponent
Mohammed Kudus singled out Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw as his toughest opponent since signing for West Ham United. Kudus asserted that every game is difficult in the Premier League after pinpointing Shaw as his toughest adversary so far.
Kudus has been one of the best signings of the season and a pivotal part of West Ham’s team. The Ghana international joined West Ham from Ajax during the summer transfer window and adapted quickly to the Premier League.
Meanwhile, a muscle injury has sidelined Shaw currently, plaguing him throughout the current season. United have played without a specialist left-back in numerous games this season due to the injury crisis.
Tyrell Malacia, the second left-back specialist, has not featured this season and has remained sidelined since last season. Nevertheless, Shaw remains the primary left-back at Old Trafford and he has also played as a centre-back this season.
The England international has made only 15 appearances in all competitions for United, contributing with one assist this season. At the same time, the 28-year-old missed 23 games in all competitions for the Red Devils.
Speaking to The Times, Kudos called Shaw as his toughest opponent so far in the Premier League. He added:
“You can’t underrate any team. Every game is difficult. When I was at Ajax, if you went in 60 per cent, 70 per cent you were still going to win. But here even the small teams can surprise. Every game is work time and you can’t switch off. I love it, you know.”
Shaw is still in the peak year of his career but the injuries are taking a continuous toll. Despite his immense potential, he has failed to fulfil it so far due to the recurring nature of his injuries.
