Manchester United are willing to offer £51 million for AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez
According to Spanish publication Fichajes, Manchester United have been linked with a surprise move for AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez and are willing to pay £51 million for him.
Theo Hernandez is a genuine superstar in the realm of world football. Such has been the French left-back’s performances over the past few years, he has become a sought-after property among all the top European clubs.
Predominantly a left-back, Theo has showcased his versatility on more than one occasion this season, filling in admirably as a centre-back on many an occasion. He has five goals and 10 assists from 38 appearances this season.
Injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia has seen Erik ten Hag often depend on Victor Lindelof to fill in at left-back. The Swedish international is a centre-back by trade and looks very uncomfortable when asked to deputise on the left side of defence.
Whilst AC Milan would ideally not want to part ways with such a prized asset, contractual situations might necessitate a sale this summer. PSG, unsurprisingly, are also interested in signing the talented French defender.
When it comes to an attacking full-back, there aren’t many options in world football who are better than Theo Hernandez. Erik ten Hag would do very well from having a presence like the Frenchman in their defence.
Although Luke Shaw and Malacia are expected to be back next summer, the former is ageing and there is no guarantee on how the latter would fare after such a dreadful injury episode. An upgrade might be the need of the hour when it comes to the Red Devils.
At 26, Theo is at the perfect age to make the next big move of his career. He is expected to play a crucial role for France in the Euros. Ahead of next season though, a transfer of the highest calibre could be on the cards.
