New report suggests that a Man United veteran is not considering retirement
Manchester United veteran, Jonny Evans is quickly approaching the end of his career. But contrary to popular belief, the 36-year-old defender still has a lot left in the tank. The Daily Mail reports that Evans will not be retiring at the end of this season.
There was a lot of talk going around which suggested that Evans was at the end of the road in his career. However, the Northern Ireland coach has dismissed all the talk and believes the Red Devil will continue to play.
He has made 24 appearances for Manchester United this season and his quality has been on display. His veteran presence and experience have also had a positive effect on young players like Kobbie Mainoo.
However, Evans’ contract will expire at the end of the season. There has also been no talk of Manchester United preparing a new contract for the 36-year-old. But talk suggests that he could be retained for an additional 12 months.
The Red Devils are expected to be extremely busy in the transfer market this summer. The team has regularly been linked to a lot of new defenders like Jarrad Branthwaite and Giorgio Scalvini.
When the new talent comes in, Jonny Evans who is a Manchester United veteran will have the opportunity to show up. His experience and poise will once again be useful in honing the team’s young talent.
