Erik Ten Hag is still backing his injury struck Manchester United star to make a comeback
Manchester United coach, Erik ten Hag has supreme confidence in his star player Mason Mount. The Red Devils paid £55m for the 25-year-old back in July 2023. However, injuries have not allowed Mount to have a big say in United’s season.
The English midfielder has been sidelined for the majority of his stint at Old Trafford. Mount has been missing from the team since November. In his small injury-free window, the midfielder made 12 appearances and recorded one assist for the team.
Despite his early struggles, the Dutchman believes that Mount will be an important part of the team’s future. Here’s what he had to say about the player while speaking to The Guardian.
“I’m convinced he will be [a key player],”
“He didn’t have the chance to prove this point. But he will be a very good player for Manchester United.”
Erik ten Hag added that the Mason Mount situation has troubled him as well. The Dutchman says that it can be extremely frustrating to have a player of Mount’s quality and then not get to play him due to injury.
However, the 25-year-old will soon be reintegrated into the squad. Manchester United have long required a creative touch in their middle line. Upon his return, the team will look at Mount to be the playmaker and plug that hole for them.
However, Mount will have to be quick to adjust. He’s already been at the club for a while now and should have a good grasp of the environment. If he can adjust on the pitch United will gain a big boost in their attack.
