Martin Odegaard stat shows where Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes still lacks.
Manchester United skipper, Bruno Fernandes has been a key part of Erik ten Hag’s campaign this season. The Portuguese midfielder has recorded eight goals and nine assists this season. Despite his best efforts, the Red Devils haven’t been at their best this season.
Manchester United are sixth in the Premier League, meanwhile, their rivals Arsenal are on top. The Gunners’ skipper, Martin Odegaard also has similar stats to United’s Fernandes. The Norwegian has recorded nine goals and eight assists this season.
Despite performing at a similar level to the Portuguese skipper, Odegaard has been able to find more success with his team. Well, this could also be because both players impact their teams in different ways.
Odegaard holds possession and likes to build up play as highlighted by his high passing accuracy. Fernandes on the other hand often fails to hit the mark with his through balls. The Portuguese midfielder’s decision-making also leaves a lot to be desired.
Fernandes can hit the occasional good ball, however, he struggles to be a consistent playmaker for his team. He has nine assists this season, but he could have a lot more. United loves to counterattack and Bruno is mostly in the thick of things, often he kills the momentum by not picking the right pass.
He often allows the defence to recover and when he does release the ball it has a higher probability of being intercepted. But even if he did make those passes, he can’t always count on his attacking line to finish the chance.

Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho score a decent amount of goals, but should be scoring a lot more. However, it has to start with the captain, if Fernandes can work on his accuracy and pass selection it can motivate the entire team.
