Manchester United had to beat two Premier League rivals for the singing of Mason Mount
Manchester United paid up to £60m to complete the signing of former Chelsea man, Mason Mount last year. Since then the 25-year-old has only been able to make 12 appearances for the first team.
He has missed 26 games due to injury this season. While he hasn’t been able to find his stride at Old Trafford, Mount was one of the best playmakers in the league before the switch.
In fact, as reported by Caughtoffside (h/t Manchester Evening News), Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that both Arsenal and Liverpool were asking about the availability of the 25-year-old.
However, Mason Mount was alwaays looking forward to joining Erik ten Hag and his Manchester United. It seems like the English midfielder sees a lot of potential in their project. Moreover, Mount is expected to be a major part of the team’s future.
But, that depends on how well he is able to adjust upon his return from injury. During his time at Chelsea, the 25-year-old recorded six assists and three goals while making 35 appearances.
While his numbers aren’t too crazy, his impact on the pitch was surely remarkable. Hopefully, Mount will be able to find his former self and adjust to life at Manchester United.
