“Would’ve been sent off every game” says Marcus Rashford when talking about his Manchester United debut

Marcus Rashford realised his dream back when he made his debut for Manchester United. The English forward had sacrificed a lot to get to the promised land and it’s safe to say that emotions were running high when he finally arrived.

The 26-year-old made his debut back in 2016. His first game was against Premier League rivals Liverpool. Rashford says he didn’t even feel like a player when he took the pitch. Instead, he felt more like a fan who had suddenly been asked to play.

While speaking to The Players Tribune, the English forward recalled what he told his family following his Man United debut. Let’s have a look at what he had to say.

“We need to get this under control right now. I need to find a way to take the fan part out of me, or else I’m going to get sent off every game.”

The fan part that Rashford is speaking of almost led to him being sent off early during his first game. Adrenaline was running high and the young forward flew in for a poor tackle on James Milner.

If Rashford hadn’t gotten his nerves under control, he would’ve been sent off a lot more than he did during the early days. But he did well to control himself and recorded eight goals and two assists in 18 appearances during his first season.

Back then Rashford was regarded as the future of Manchester United. However, now fans don’t have a lot of confidence left in their star player.
