Erik ten Hag says he has proved his critics wrong thanks to the performance of two Manchester United stars
A lot of people have questioned the decisions taken by Manchester United head coach, Erik ten Hag. Most of the Dutchman’s signings for Old Trafford have been kind of hit-and-miss. Moreover, his squad selection for games has also been questionable at times.
This has led to a lot of critique for Ten Hag, but the Dutch manager has kept a level head about him. We have seldom seen the outside noise faze him from doing his duties at United.
Also, it’s not like all of his decisions have ended in disaster. Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garancho are excellent examples of this. In fact, he even mentioned the two while speaking to BBC. Let’s have a look at what he had to say.
“I brought in Kobbie Mainoo”
“Now, after six weeks, the same people who were questioning it are saying he has to go to the England squad.
“Garnacho, what is the manager doing? What is the staff doing? Similar. They need time.”
He says that the two have been crucial and have helped him prove his critics wrong. Ten Hag also believes that even more of his players will do the same. He backed Antony and assured the fans that he would make a comeback.
One has to say, the Dutchman’s decision to trust, Mainoo and Garnacho has been the saving grace for the team this season. If it wasn’t for their contributions this season, Erik ten Hag might not even be the team’s manager at this point.
In 34 appearances, 19-year-old Garnacho has made 10 goal contributions for United, while 18-year-old Mainoo has made four in 19 appearances.
