Manchester United could have found a suitor for Casemiro as Real Madrid eye a surprise return
As reported by The Sun (h/t Eurosport), La Liga giants, Real Madrid are planning a surprise swoop for Manchester United’s biggest stars. Both Raphael Varane and Carlos Casemiro are on Los Blanco’s list.
The Red Devils paid a price of £41m back in 2021 and the Brazilian midfielder followed a year after for the high price of £70m. Both players have had respectable stints at Old Trafford but their time with the club could soon come to an end.
The Frenchman and Casemiro are both on the wrong side of 30. Moreover, their wage is one of the most expensive bills that Manchester United have had to pay this season. So, their declining quality and high wage bill give United the perfect excuse to move the two.
Now what could be better by selling the players back to the club that they bought them from? Real Madrid will reportedly welcome both players back with open arms so the Red Devils can be expected to negotiate a deal with the La Liga giants.
Moreover, the money that the club gains from selling these two can then be used to bring in more reinforcements in defence. Carlo Ancelotti considers their experience in Madrid to be extremely valuable.
So, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team can try and negotiate a higher price for the two. Varane’s departure will also open the door for Atalanta BC’s Giorgio Scalvini. The 20-year-old is considered to be one of the best defenders in Italy and would provide a big boon to the Old Trafford defence.
