Sir Jim Ratcliffe instructs Manchester United bosses to get tough on high earners
Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants Manchester United to get hard with their wages as other clubs do to control finances, according to a report by The Mirror.
He not only wants to get the highest earners responsible but also wants to make sure that they cash in on their high wages only when they are successful on the pitch.
The pharmaceutical billionaire wants to create a wage model like that at Manchester City to replicate the success they have had on the pitch.
Replicating the City model
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Manchester United brought in Omar Berrada as the Chief Operating Officer from Manchester City. He is instructed to revamp the financial system of the club.
Manchester United under Omar Berrada want to create an incentive-heavy model like the one Manchester City has.
In the latest financial report, Manchester United were spending a sum of £330m on wages. Despite spending such a huge sum of money on wages, there has not been a similar replication on the football pitch.
Comparatively, the noisy neighbours Manchester City are spending £400 million on wages annually. Although Manchester City earned £300m in prize money from the three trophies they won last season. Another prize money should be on their way for their involvement in the Club World Cup for 2025.
Omar Berrada has been an important negotiator during his time at Manchester City. His deals not only gave City a huge financial advantage but also benefitted the club for years to come.
Omar will also be tasked to keep the basic salary of the players below £ 300,000 a week. However, they are also preparing a model where Manchester United can be more flexible when circumstances demand.
