Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola has shared an update on the injury suffered by Kevin de Bruyne now that their match against Man United is on the horizon. The Belgian superstar has already missed 27 games this season.

During the Blues’ last outing against Brentford, Guardiola benched the 32-year-old which led a lot of people to wonder about his fitness. But his decision is understandable as De Bruyne has been away from the game for five months.

Forcing him back into his regular playing time could make the situation much worse for Guardiola and his team.

“He’s okay. It’s more caution and prevention than anything. He didn’t feel comfortable and the doctors said there was a little bit of risk. After five months off, we did not take any risk with that.”

Guardiola made the right decision. One example of a player being forced to play after an extended leave is Manchester United’s very own Jadon Sancho. The 23-year-old played regular football after a four-month break and was injured in just his third game back.
