Gary Neville believes the conditions that Manchester United managers have been working in for the past decade is ‘madness’
Former Manchester United skipper, Gary Neville says that it is ‘madness’ that the team’s managers have had to operate without key backroom figures for the last decade.
Under the management of The Glazers, all who preceded Erik ten Hag had to make do without a sporting director and CEO most of the time. Now that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have arrived things have taken a turn for the better.
After appointing Omar Berrada as the CEO, the team now has their eyes set on Dan Ashworth, whom they believe is the perfect candidate to be United’s sporting director.
Let’s take a look at what Neville had to say about the whole situation while speaking on Sky Sports.
“The Glazers don’t play football but when you think, for the last 10 years, every Manchester United manager has operated without a sporting director and head of recruitment, it’s madness,”
A lot of things that the Glazers have done to United can be considered ‘madness’
Neville added that whatever Sir Jim Ratcliffe has done ever since his arrival is normal. However, the fans have lived through dark times while supporting the club so some normalcy is highly appreciated.
Moreover, the happiest of the bunch has been Erik ten Hag who was handling backroom operations while also coaching the first team this season. Now the Dutchman can fully focus on what his job role wants him to.
It should’ve taken a longer time for INEOS to undo the damage done by the Glazers. However, fans have been highly appreciative of their swiftness. The people will have more to celebrate when Sir Jim Ratcliffe breaks the bank this summer and adds new players to the roster.
