Heaps of praises have followed Hojlund since his performance against Luton Town
Following his difficult start at life in Manchester where he went 14 Premier League appearances without finding the back of the net, light has finally shone on Rasmus Hojlund as he has now scored goals in six consecutive league games (while his record stands at 13 goals in 30 games in all competitions).
In doing so, Rasmus Hojlund has entered his name in history books being the Premier League’s youngest-ever to score goals in six consecutive games in the English top flight.
The Schmeichel Praises
Manchester United club legend Peter Schmeichel believes that the ex-Atalanta star “could be looked” in the similar bracket as three other club legends after his brace against Luton Town at the weekend.
His achievement adds him to the esteemed group of Manchester United legends who have left their mark in the Premier League’s history. Ruud van Nistelrooy held the record of scoring in 10 successive league games back in 2003 until Jamie Vardy surpassed when he scored for 11 successive games in Leicester City’s title bid in 2015/16.
Then comes the duo of Cristiano Ronaldo and Eric Cantona, both of them have also scored six consecutive goals in the Premier League.
Schmeichel when speaking following that Luton game, hailed the Danish ace to as a “fantastic” and “strong” player. Schmeichel also thinks that Hojlund’s teammates at Old Trafford need to “understand him a little bit better.”
Peter Schmeichel speaking on Premier League Productions, said:
“And he’s [Hojlund] in good company. There are only three other Man United players that have ever done that: scoring six in a row.
“It’s Van Nistelrooy, he’s done it three times. Then Cristiano Ronaldo. And who was the last one? Cantona!
“But he’s [Hojlund] in good company, though. And with him, I’m not saying, he’s only 21, right?
“He’s promising a lot, so I’m saying that he could be looked at in that bracket. That he could move into that stardom, that guy that puts the ball away and scores 25, 30 goals a season. He has got that; we’ve seen that again today. He’s got everything in his locker.
“I think the team needs to understand him a little bit better. But that will take time and that will come with time. But the guy is fantastic, man, he’s strong, he gets the chances. He missed one today, but he scored two.”
Erik ten Hag also said in his post-match press conference that he will score even more.
Destined for greatness?
His build up play is getting better and he is finding good positions in the box. Once players around Rasmus Hojlund starts understanding his movements more chances should follow and that should lead to more goals.

He is still young and the pressure is going to be massive on his shoulders when he represents this club and wears the devils badge to his heart. We need to give him his space and time to develop, and he could could be the guy, as Peter Schmeichel said, that scores 25-30 goals a season.
