Dan Ashworth has finally responded to Manchester United’s interest in signing him
As reported by The Athletic, Newcastle’s Sporting Director, Dan Ashworth, has been Manchester United’s top target for quite some time now. It seems like the English national is part of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s plans for the future of Old Trafford.
After stealing Omar Berrada from under the noses of bitter rivals Man City, the Red Devils have now turned their eyes towards Ashworth. It has been reported by Fabrizio Romano that Dan has already agreed to join United.
However, he is still under contract with Newcastle United, so INEOS might have to pay a hefty sum as compensation if they wish to bring Ashworth over to Old Trafford.
Before taking up office at Newcastle, Ashworth was the Technical Director at Brighton. Prior to that, the man also served as Director of Development for the English Football Association.
Under his watch, both the Men’s and Women’s national teams made great strides. He has made quite a reputation for himself amongst prominent clubs for his ability to recognize talented players.
Such a tried and tested person who has had experience at different levels of football will be a welcome addition at Manchester United. To make things easier for the club, Ashworth has already reacted to their interest by informing Newcastle about the Red Devils’ approach.
