Berbatov has warned Manchester United to be wary of French target, the former Red Devil even cited Wilf Zaha’s example.
Dimitar Berbatov has asked Manchester United to be careful with the prospect of Michael Olise. The Red Devils seem to be sold on the French star and are expected to make a move during the summer.
However, Berbatov has tempered his expectations regarding the young star. He thinks that the club should be careful if they don’t want to repeat what happened with Wilfried Zaha.
The Ivorian winger arrived as an exciting prospect at the club. However, after four appearances for the Manchester United first-team, Zaha was promptly shipped back to Crystal Palace.
Here’s what Berbatov had to say about the situation (h\t Betfair)
“They need to make sure that Olise is what’s needed at the club. Is he going to help? Is he going to elevate the team in any way?”
Berbatov went on to say that all the positive growth and development that Olise has shown, will cease if he is not surrounded by the right team under the right manager.
The 22-year-old has recorded five goals and an assist in just nine appearances this season. Coming into a system like Manchester United’s could very easily be detrimental to the Frenchman’s growth.
Moreover, the team already has Alejandro Garnacho playing on the right wing. The two young stars will have to share minutes if Olise is signed which will further hinder the growth of both.
