£18m Newcastle star is looking like a ‘short-term solution’ to Manchester United

Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are all in the running to sign expendable £18m Newcastle star, Callum Wilson, as reported by The Standard (h\t Eurosport). The Red Devils will be facing some stiff competition for the 31-year-old.

Newcastle originally did not have any plans to sell Wilson. However, due to them being really close to violating Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules, they are now planning on raising some money using the player.

The English striker is said to be a ‘short-term solution’ for the Old Trafford squad. With the summer transfer window gearing up to be a huge one, Manchester United are anyways not interested in long-term deals this January.

In 20 appearances this season Callum Wilson has recorded eight goals and one assist for his team. This means that he has a goal contribution in almost every other game.

The Red Devils would be much better off if any of their players were producing regularly like him. £18m seems like a cheap price for such a quality striker and the team should pounce on the opportunity.

If any other team decides to move first, Erik ten Hag could be in trouble. If the Dutchman fails to sign a new striker, he will have to rely on Rasmus Hojlund. Now, the Danish striker may have a ton of potential but he needs time to grow.
