Graeme Souness believes that a Manchester United midfielder would be ‘fantastic’ for their Premier League rivals Liverpool
Graeme Souness believes that Bruno Fernandes isn’t living up to his full potential at Manchester United and would thrive for a team like Liverpool or Man City. The Red Devils paid £47m for the player back in 2020.
The Portuguese midfielder is an excellent player. Every time Manchester United make something happen he is in the thick of it. However, his poor body language and constant complaints about officiating are not welcome.
The Red Devils’ mental struggles are well documented, and their skipper constantly complaining during most matches drags the mental down even more.
Let’s have a look at what Souness had to say while speaking to talkSPORT.
“He is a player. I don’t think he’s a captain. In terms of quality if he played for Liverpool or if he played for City he would be a fantastic player.”
He went on to say that there would be no questions about his discipline on the pitch if he played for a club like Man City or Liverpool. Both of those clubs have done well this season, and that’s where this argument stems from.
While Bruno Fernandes could potentially do better at those clubs, it is also possible that he wouldn’t do as well. Moreover, there is no guarantee that he would fit into Jurgen Klopp or Guardiola’s system as well as he does in Ten Hag’s system.
Fernandes is a winner and wants to see his team succeed. He would do better if Manchester United were doing better. However, since that isn’t the case at the moment, his discipline issues are talked about more often than his football skills.
