Erik ten Hag is backed by pundit to snub Andre Onana during Manchester United’s next game
Erik ten Hag has a big decision to make regarding Andre Onana before Manchester United’s next game. The Cameroonian goalkeeper might be back at the club sooner than expected.
Cameroon will need to win their next game against Gambia if they want to proceed to the next round of AFCON. The team came away with a tie during their opener and lost their next game to Senegal.
Now if Onana ends up coming back Altay Bayindir might not get to make his debut this season. However, Wes Brown believes that the Turkish goalkeeper will not be getting his nod even if Onana doesn’t end up coming back.
Here’s what Wes Brown had to say about the situation at Manchester United. (h\t MUTV)
“Everyone thinks he won’t play. He’s played matches before, When needed he’s put him in, he’s done fine, there have been not problems, I just feel Tom’s going to play.”
Brown firmly believes that Tom Heaton is going to be getting the start over Bayindir and Onana. Fans have been debating whether this would be the correct decision for Erik ten Hag.
Bayindir is a young and exciting prospect in the club and Heaton on the other side is 37 years old and close to retirement. If given a chance the Turkish goalkeeper could even end up being better than Andre Onana.
Even if Andre Onana ends up coming back from AFCON, before Sunday’s game against Newport County, Bayindir deserves the nod and should be standing on goal at kick-off
