Luke Shaw is likely to return to action for Manchester United vs Newport County
There is another good news on the injury front as Manchester United star Luke Shaw is set to return to action in the upcoming FA Cup clash against Newport County.
The English international has endured a difficult campaign that has been beset by injuries. In fact, the left-back has not played since Christmas and should return to don a key role given the exit of Sergio Reguilon.
The Spaniard, who served as a stand-in for Shaw and Tyrell Malacia did not just return to Tottenham Hotspur but has since moved to Brentford on loan. He made his debut for the Bees in their 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest earlier on Saturday.
With Malacia also out, the returning Shaw will be the club’s lone specialist option at left-back. Erik ten Hag will do well to have his best players back and there is hope that Shaw has already put the worst this season can offer behind him.
The Red Devils travel to Newport County on 28 January and will hope to book their place in the fifth round of the competition. The FA Cup represents United’s last chance of securing silverware this season. Having made it to the final last time around, Ten Hag and Co will hope that the returning players will propel the Red Devils to silverware.
According to ESPN, Shaw is the only senior star primed to return to action at Rodney Parade. The Red Devils will still have to do without Harry Maguire and Mason Mount, both of who continue to struggle with injuries.
Victor Lindelof is also some way off from returning as the Red Devils aim to do better in the second half of the season. With Cameroon set to face Gambia on the 23rd. it remains to be seen if first choice goalkeeper Andre Onana will also be in the running to return for the trip to Rodney Parade.

Shaw has impressed under Ten Hag and his absence has been badly felt on the field by United. With him returning, we can hopefully push on and make an impression in the final months of the 2023/24 season. Despite several setbacks, United still have much to play for just yet. Having stars return should make that job easier.
