Report: Manchester United are keeping tabs on 23-year-old Bayer Leverkusen defender

Manchester United have been liked to Odilon Kossounou for a possible summer transfer

Odilon Kossounou has caught the eyes of Manchester United after putting together a string of impressive performances for Bayer Leverkusen. The Red Devils will likely be pursuing the 23-year-old during the summer.

The Ivorian defender is currently under contract till 2026. He has made 20 appearances this season while recording a goal for his team, which is a bonus since he primarily plays as a centre-back.

Kossounous has been with the German club since 2021 and has developed into one of their key players. He also played a pivotal part for Club Brugge KV when the team lifted the Belgian Super Cup back in 2021/22.

His exceptional defending ability and fantastic pace make him both an asset on defence and a threat during counterattacks. Although he primarily plays as a centre-back, there have been instances where he’s been comfortable playing as a right-back as well.

There has been some talk about Manchester United beating open to let go of Raphael Varane. It could be a possibility that the Red Devils are eyeing Odilon as a replacement for the Frenchman.

The Old Trafford squad has also been linked to Atlanta BC star Giorgio Scalvini, along with Jean-Clair Todibo. It is looking more and more likely that Manchester United are looking to completely overhaul their defence.
