Manchester United missed out on signing Erling Haaland by ‘an hour’ claims scout
Manchester United were very close to completing a deal for Erling Haaland back when he was still playing for Molde, claims Bryan King. He says that the Red Devils had an agreement in place for the Norwegian but lost to RB Salzburg.
How different would the Old Trafford squad have looked with the addition of Erling Haaland on it? The 23-year-old is one of the best players in the world right now. Over 22 appearances this season he has scored 19 goals while also grabbing five assists.
However, Manchester United’s mistake ended up costing them dearly as the Norwegian striker now plays for their bitter rivals Manchester City.
Let’s have a look at what Bryan King had to say about the whole situation. (h\t Football Insider)
“The people at United who made the call made it an hour late. They should have rung at nine but they rang at 10, which is 11 in Norway. That caused the deal not to go through!”
He explained that the team had some mixup and a lot of people were on holiday at the time. All of this led Manchester United to lose out on a world-class talent who might very well grow to be one of the best players of all time.
Surely the people at Old Trafford are still taking this as hard as the fans will when they discover that they could’ve had Haaland instead of Rasmus Hojlund. This doesn’t mean Hojlund is bad it just means that the Norwegian is way better.
Hojlund has only scored two Premier League goals while 23-year-old Haaland has 14.
