Manchester United’s search for a midfielder could mean bad news for Sofyan Amrabat
Sofyan Amrabat was expected to improve Manchester United’s midfield by a long shot, but the Morrocan midfielder has been a non-factor. The team will likely not be exercising their option to buy the player permanently.
He has made 17 appearances for the Old Trafford squad and his efforts on the pitch during that time have been fruitless. With the kind of season that the team has been having, we can’t blame them for losing their patience with Amrabat.
Erik Ten Hag has not been counting on the player since their game against West Ham United. This will likely continue even after he returns from the AFCON.
The team has now turned their gaze towards other options as they look to bolster the middle line. As reported by Spanish publication Fichajes, Leeds United’s Archie Gray is on their target list.
The 17-year-old has exceptional passing ability and is highly rated at Old Trafford. Although, it is unclear whether Gray will be ready to join rivals Manchester United or not.
On the other hand, the team is also willing to listen to offers for Carlos Casemiro. He was pivotal to Ten Hag last season but has been unable to show his quality ever since due to injuries.

It is becoming more and more likely that we will see Erik Ten Hag field a completely new middle line next season. Scott McTominay, Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo are currently the only consistent midfielders available to the Dutchman.
