Manchester United have locked down a youthful goal scorer who has impressed at the Old Trafford academy

Manchester United have signed a 20-year-old academy graduate, Joe Hugill to a new contract till 2026. The English striker’s fine form for the U-21 team has caught the eyes of the Old Trafford hierarchy.

Throughout 12 appearances for the Manchester United U-21 team, Hugill has scored eight goals while also grabbing an assist. He is yet to feature for the senior team but has been on the bench four times this season.

He was also on the bench for Manchester United’s FA Cup draw against Wigan Athletic. His new deal runs till 2026 and the Red Devils have the option to extend it by an additional year.

Even though he has been in fine form, the team isn’t ready to take any chances with Hugill yet. He is expected to depart the club on loan this January, the team wants him to develop further before he is called on to perform for the senior squad.

As reported by Simon Peach (h\t Metro), the 20-year-old is expected to depart for Ligue 1 side Burton Albion. A smart decision by Manchester United to send the young star out and get some experience under his belt.

Erik Ten Hag already has his hands full with one inexperienced striker, Rasmus Hojlund who has been a regular feature for the Dutchman. The team should avoid playing young talent upfront until they can get a more experienced candidate.
