Erik Ten Hag has made his thoughts clear on how Manchester United should approach Mason Greenwood situation
The Mason Greenwood saga at Manchester United has taken another turn since the player has displayed some good form in Spain. The 22-year-old was investigated by the club after being charged with rape and assault.
Once all the charges were dropped, his return to the Old Trafford squad seemed imminent. However, he was quickly pushed out the backdoor when the team’s decision was met with a lot of backlash from the club and fans alike.
Now, the arrival of INEOS brings a new twist to the tale. Greenwood has been impressive during his loan spell at Getafe. The English winger has scored five goals and recorded four assists throughout 17 games.
His fine form has garnered interest from multiple European clubs. The Red Devils now have three options available to them. They could let the player return during the summer and then sell him. This would make them a ton of profit, but it would come at the cost of Greenwood’s top-tier talent.
The team could send him out on loan again, however that poses its own challenge. It would save them from controversy, but Greenwood is out of contract in 2025. There is a very real possibility that the 22-year-old would like to leave the club permanently if he is sent out on loan again.
The third and last option is to integrate the English winger back into the squad. This could result in a lot of controversy for the team. But, it will also help them bring this fantastic talent back to the fold which will benefit them in the long run.
