Arsenal might be a thorn in the side of Manchester United as both teams are eyeing £34m man

Manchester United will have to battle Arsenal for the signature of Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong. The Red Devils were in very advanced talks to sign Jeremie Frimpong until negotiations broke down last summer.

Since then the player has signed a long-term deal to stay at Bayer Leverkusen. What’s interesting about this deal is the £34m release clause that will come into effect during the summer.

It has been reported by Express that the 23-year-old is on top of The Gunners’ priority list. £34m seems cheap for a player of Frimpong’s quality, he has been excellent for Bundesliga toppers Bayer Leverkusen this season.

Mikael Arteta will most likely pursue the player as soon as the summer transfer window opens up. This will spell bad news for Manchester United who don’t look like the ideal choice for any player right now.

The club is struggling badly and is a mere shell of the Premier League giants that they used to be. Some crucial signings have to be made if they want to turn this spell around.

Frimipong is exactly the kind of player that Ten Hag needs to make a difference on his team. Through 22 appearances this season the 23-year-old has scored seven goals and has recorded 10 assists, these are very solid numbers for a right-back.
