Manchester United are ready to battle Luton Town for the signature of LDU Quito midfielder Oscar Zambrano
Manchester United are planning to defeat Luton Town for the signature of LDU Quito midfielder Oscar Zambrano. Football pundits have dubbed Zambrano as “the next Moises Caicedo” due to his age and progression in the Ecuadorian professional football league.
United have suffered a poor first half of the current season due to vulnerabilities in all phases of the game. Aiming to fight for a top-four finish, the Red Devils currently occupy the eighth position in the Premier League table.
Finishing fourth in the Champions League Group A resulted in their elimination from all European competitions. Furthermore, United crashed out of the Carabao Cup, a trophy that they won last season.
United have leaked goals continuously while failing to create a threat in attacking play, struggling to score many goals. Their inability to dominate games has been due to the struggle of their midfielders, lacking either energy or quality.
Fans and experts criticized Casemiro and Christian Eriksen for their failure to cover spaces between the defence and midfield. The opposition midfielders exploited the duo for their lack of pace and energy to keep up with them.
United manager Erik ten Hag signed Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat to add that energy with creativity. However, both the new signings failed to live up to the expectations or even make a significant impact.
Scott McTominay enjoyed a prolific season but struggled to dictate in the middle, much to the annoyance of the fans. Only Kobbie Mainoo has looked worthy of the game time he has recently in recent matches. Nevertheless, the youngster is still raw and needs proper game management to develop his talents.
Ecuadorian publication Elfutbolero reported that United are ready to rival Luton for the signature of Zambrano. The 19-year-old dubbed “the next Moises Caicedo”, plays as a defensive midfielder for Ecuadorian side LDU Quito.
The Ecuadorian has made 51 appearances already despite his young age, contributing with a goal and an assist. He has shown a mature mindset, using good decision-making and technical ability to distribute passes and dictate the tempo.
The 19-year-old already bags a decent number of game experience, showing his aggression and tenacity in midfield. Zambrano uses good anticipation, a sense of positioning and reading of the game to dispossess opposition, having ample energy and stamina.

The youngster would be a fine addition to the Red Devils’ squad which has many young talents coming through the academy. However, given his raw talent and inexperience with European football, Zambrano would need time and patience to develop. United need a midfield general who can immediately do the job for the club.
