Erik Ten Hag has confirmed that Manchester United will be looking to lock down two more stars to a new contract

Erik Ten Hag and Manchester United have been hard at work this January. Instead of going out and shopping for new talent, the team has taken a different approach and is looking to sort out their contract situation at the moment.

The team has already triggered the option to extend two of their players, Victor Lindelof and Hannibal Mejbri. Another player that has been extended till 2025 is 26-year-old Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Moreover, the team has opted against extending the contract of star defender Raphael Varane. However, it has been reported that they intend to work out a new deal with the Frenchman.

According to The Athletic (paid subscription), Manchester United’s Erik Ten Hag has confirmed that they are currently discussing the future of Raphael Varane and struggling forward Anthony Martial.

It was earlier reported that the team was not keen on extending the 28-year-old forward. On the other hand, the Red Devils have always intended to lock down Varane on a new contract with lower wages.

More good news coming out of Old Trafford is the conversation between Erik Ten Hag and Sir Jim Ratcliffe. It has been reported that the two of them are on the same page about the future of the club.

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial has attracted interest from Fenerbahce, who are considering securing his signature during the January transfer window.
